Chris Schoettle

Chris Schoettle is Executive Vice President of Site Acceleration at Akamai. Mr. Schoettle is responsible for Akamai's flagship HTTP-based services, providing premier site acceleration, download, and client-enabled delivery capabilities. Mr. Schoettle joined Akamai in 2001 and was previously responsible for Akamai’s global technology platform, including software development, information security, network infrastructure, and service operations for all Akamai products. Mr. Schoettle also led the integration of the acquisitions of Nine Systems, Netli, Red Swoosh, and Speedera Networks, all of which were acquired since 2005.

Prior to Akamai, Mr. Schoettle held a diverse set of positions across a wide range of businesses.

Mr. Schoettle was President of Broadband Access at Lucent Technologies, where he managed the global business of broadband connectivity products for service providers across telephony and packet networks. Mr. Schoettle was also Vice President and General Manager of VoIP (Voice-over-IP) Access Networks, leading Lucent's emerging business to operate voice calls over data networks.

At AT&T, Mr. Schoettle was General Manager of Next Generation IP Services, leading new enterprise services on the WorldNet IP network. At Novell, Mr. Schoettle held positions in corporate business development, creating and executing growth opportunities for Novell's networking and directory technology.

At Unix System Laboratories, Mr. Schoettle spent five years internationally in both the European and Asia/Pacific markets. He was based in London and Sydney, working closely with major computer manufacturers and system integrators. Mr. Schoettle began his career as a programmer at NCR Corporation.

Mr. Schoettle graduated summa cum laude with B.S. and M.S. degrees in computer science and mathematics from Emory University in Atlanta, and he has completed post-graduate programs at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland and at the London Business School. Schoettle serves on the Board of Trustees for the Massachusetts Technology Leadership Council.
