Paul Sagan, president and CEO of Akamai, joined the company in October 1998. Mr. Sagan was elected to the Akamai Board of Directors in January 2005, and he became CEO in April 2005. He brings to Akamai the experience of leading visionary technology companies and media businesses and a wealth of management experience.

George Conrades George Conrades

George Conrades was named chairman and chief executive officer of Akamai in April 1999, bringing a broad range of business experience in the computing, Internet, telecommunications, and media industries. Mr. Conrades became Executive Chairman of Akamai in April 2005 and was succeeded as CEO by Paul Sagan, Akamai's president.

Michael Afergan Michael Afergan

Mike Afergan was named Chief Technology Officer of Akamai in October 2005. In addition to serving as CTO, Mike is a Senior Vice President with the company. A veteran of Akamai's distinguished engineering organization, Dr. Afergan joined Akamai in 1999, and has served in various roles within Akamai's Engineering and Product Management departments, including Director of Technology Strategy and Director of Load Balancing and Mapping.

Robert Blumofe is the Senior Vice President of Networks and Operations at Akamai. Dr. Blumofe leads the Akamai team responsible for the global strategy, deployment, operation, and security of Akamai's production and corporate infrastructure supporting all of the Company's services.

Melanie Haratunian Melanie Haratunian

Serving as Akamai's Vice President, General Counsel, and Corporate Secretary since 2003, Melanie Haratunian oversees all legal and regulatory matters for Akamai's operations worldwide. Her responsibilities include directing the Company's transactional, intellectual property, litigation, and compliance matters. Ms. Haratunian brings to Akamai over 20 years of experience in technology advocacy, corporate leadership, negotiations, business development, and strategic planning.

Robert Hughes Robert Hughes

Robert (Bob) Hughes is the Executive Vice President of Global Sales, Services and Marketing for Akamai. His responsibilities include leading Akamai's global sales and marketing teams, as well as directing the company's product management, professional services, technical consulting and customer care organizations.

Tom Leighton Tom Leighton

Tom Leighton co-founded Akamai Technologies in August 1998. Serving as Chief Scientist and as a Director to the Board, Dr. Leighton is Akamai's technology visionary as well as a key member of the Executive Committee setting the company's direction.

Harald Prokop Harald Prokop

Harald Prokop is Senior Vice President of Engineering at Akamai. Mr. Prokop manages the Company's engineering efforts and is responsible for building the services that run on Akamai's globally distributed computing platform. He also helps to define and is responsible for executing Akamai's technology strategy with a focus on innovative, market-leading services based on customer requirements.

Chris Schoettle Chris Schoettle

Chris Schoettle is Executive Vice President of Site Acceleration at Akamai. Mr. Schoettle is responsible for Akamai's flagship HTTP-based services, providing premier site acceleration, download, and client-enabled delivery capabilities. Mr. Schoettle joined Akamai in 2001 and was previously responsible for Akamai's global technology platform. Mr. Schoettle also led the integration of the acquisitions of Nine Systems, Netli, Red Swoosh, and Speedera Networks, all of which were acquired since 2005.

J.D. Sherman J.D. Sherman

J.D. Sherman is Akamai's Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Sherman joined Akamai in November 2005. Prior to Akamai, Mr. Sherman served as the chief financial executive of IBM's $21 billion Systems and Technology Group. During his 15-year career at IBM, Mr. Sherman held a number of senior executive positions in Finance, including Vice President, Finance and Planning, zSeries Server Division, and Assistant Controller of IBM Corporate Financial Strategy and Budgets.

His responsibilities include leading Akamai's corporate development and strategic partnership activities, as well as long-term planning. Mr. Wood brings 15 years of deal experience in the technology, financial services, and outsourcing industries, covering a wide range of strategic transactions.
