Company partners with InfoLibria to enhance interoperability between DynaCache and Akamai's Internet content delivery service

CAMBRIDGE, MA, September 22, 1999 -- Akamai Technologies, which operates a global Internet content delivery service that speeds up Web performance, announced today that it has formed a technology relationship with InfoLibria, Inc. Key to the relationship is the development of specialized software that facilitates communications between InfoLibria's DynaCache and Akamai's global network of servers.

Akamai is teaming with InfoLibria to achieve interoperability between DynaCache - which Internet service providers use to optimize the delivery and management of Web pages, high-quality audio, and video content - and Akamai's Internet content delivery service, FreeFlow. The added functionality will be derived from the development of a new standard for communications called the Cache Interface Protocol. DynaCaches will store Akamai content and report performance data - such as the number of hits served - to Akamai Web site customers. DynaCache users will be able to take advantage of the product's performance, while participating in Akamai's network.

"As Internet content becomes increasing rich and bandwidth-intensive, there is a growing need for content to be distributed throughout the network for fast, high-quality delivery," said Ian C. Yates, president and CEO of InfoLibria. "Akamai and InfoLibria are both working toward this goal - Akamai providing a service and InfoLibria selling the equipment - and together we offer a powerful solution."

InfoLibria's award-winning DynaCache can be installed in both Internet service provider and corporate networks. The product enables value-added services for Internet service providers, improves response time and availability for Web pages, and enables the deliver of high-quality video and audio content, without requiring the reconfiguration of network devices or browsers.
