Tight integration of Akamai FreeFlow and Vignette StoryServer offer customers competitive advantages

INTERNET WORLD, NEW YORK, NY, October 6, 1999 - Akamai Technologies today announced that Vignette Corporation is the first Web software vendor to join Akamai's Alliance Program announced today at Internet World in New York City (see accompanying release dated today "Akamai Teams with AGENCY.COM and Fort Point Partners in New Alliance Program"). The partnership between the two companies will improve the speed, reliability and performance of joint customer Web sites for a more rewarding online experience.

"Vignette's strong content management and personalization capabilities mesh well with Akamai's ability to speed customer content across the globe reliably," said Earl Galleher, vice president of sales and distribution for Akamai. "We're very pleased to support the needs of Vignette's current and future customers to deliver fresh and unique content to Web site visitors."

Specifically, Akamai has integrated part of its Internet content delivery technology, FreeFlow Launcher, into Vignette's E-Relationship solution, StoryServer. This will be accomplished by embedding a series of Akamai commands within StoryServer that will enable Vignette users to integrate Akamai's performance enhancing capabilities.

"We're thrilled to partner with Akamai to provide customers reliable and scalable solutions to meet their dynamic e-business requirements," said Bill Daniel, senior vice president of products, Vignette. "This alliance offers a comprehensive solution for content providers and Web developers using Akamai and Vignette technology."

Vignette's StoryServer provides tailored personalization solutions to help e-businesses provide their customers a rewarding online experience. With the integration of Akamai's FreeFlowSM technology, content providers are able to create personalized dynamic content "on the fly" using native Vignette commands, and deliver this content with high-performance and reliability from Akamai's expansive global network.
