Web Integrators and Application Vendors To Join Akamai's Alliance Program

INTERNET WORLD, NEW YORK, NY, October 6, 1999 - Akamai Technologies, which operates a global Internet content delivery service that speeds up Web performance, today announced a new partner alliance program designed to complement the needs and services of Web integrators and application vendors. Concurrently, Akamai announced that it has already formed partnerships with leading Web integrators including AGENCY.COM and Fort Point Partners, as well as Web software vendor Vignette (see accompanying release dated today "Akamai and Vignette Form Alliance to Marry Internet Content Delivery and E-Relationship Solutions").

The new Akamai Alliance program targets two classes of companies: Web integrators and application vendors. Web integrators such as AGENCY.COM and Fort Point Partners, Akamai's first two partners in the alliance, will offer their online strategy and systems integration services with Akamai's Internet content delivery service, FreeFlowSM. As a result, joint customers will benefit from richer, more engaging Web sites while ensuring high reliability and performance in the delivery of Web content.

The second group of companies to be served by the program include application vendors that provide tools and software for creating and managing Web sites. For example, Vignette, Akamai's first partner in this category, is integrating Akamai's technology into its own product to enhance its customers' Web site speed, performance, personalization and dynamic content.
