San Carlos, CA and Cambridge, MA - April 24, 2001 - ReleaseNow Corporation, the leading Web infrastructure services provider for vendors of digital goods, and Akamai Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: AKAM), the leading Content Delivery Service Provider (CDSP), today announced an alliance to market and distribute a ReleaseNow-hosted solution incorporating Akamai's Digital Parcel Service (DPS).

Under the agreement, ReleaseNow will offer the benefits of Akamai's unique DPS technology on a hosted basis, providing access to Akamai's globally distributed network and intelligent routing technologies that optimally deliver all forms of Internet content to end users worldwide. ReleaseNow builds, hosts and manages e-commerce solutions that enable one-to-one commerce interactions between digital goods vendors and their customers over the Internet. The addition of Akamai's DPS to ReleaseNow's PowerCommerceTM System enhances ReleaseNow's ability to provide managed downloads of large software files, documents and other digital goods, anywhere in the world, seamlessly.

"The addition of the Akamai Digital Parcel Service to the hosted capabilities of ReleaseNow's PowerCommerce System will allow our customers the bandwidth, reliability and scalability necessary for even the most demanding digital downloads," said Michael Maulick, president and chief executive officer, ReleaseNow Corporation. "Additionally, by making our hosted e-commerce solutions available to all Akamai customers, we will strengthen both companies' offerings in the digital goods space."

"As the Internet continues to grow as a marketplace for digital goods, Akamai is uniquely suited to lend both our technology and expertise for the secure, high-performance delivery of Internet content via the world's largest distributed computing platform," said Chris Turner, vice president, worldwide channel distribution, Akamai. "We're excited to align with ReleaseNow to jointly help businesses better utilize the Internet as a powerful distribution channel for digitized assets."

Akamai's DPS technology will complement ReleaseNow's PowerCommerce System by ensuring that digital goods are strategically placed throughout the Akamai global network to optimize distribution efficiency. In addition, ReleaseNow customers will have full access to real-time reporting and usage statistics through Akamai's Traffic AnalyzerSM and Akamai ReporterSM.
