Akamai Establishes Public Sector Advisory Board

Richard A. Clarke was most recently Chairman, President's Critical Infrastructure Protection Board, and Special Advisor to President George W. Bush for Cyber Space Security. As Chairman of the President's Critical Infrastructure Protection Board, Clarke was the driving force behind the development of the National Strategy to Secure Cyber Space. Clarke has been a member of the National Security Council since 1992 and has been in government service for over 30 years.
James T. Eccleston is President, Federal Sector of Advanced Software Design Inc. (ASD), a leading e-business solutions integrator. Eccleston's background in government and military includes serving as the Assistant Deputy Under Secretary of Defense (Logistics), Supply Chain Integration, the Pentagon. He was responsible for the full-scale implementation of supply chain business practices across the Military Services and Defense Logistics Agency, as well as integration between the supply chain process and acquisition. Eccleston began his civil service career in 1984 with Headquarters, United States Air Force in the Directorate of Logistics, the Pentagon.
Tom Hewitt is currently the founder and CEO of Global Governments, Inc., a company focused on strategic planning and marketing in the international government information technology marketplace. In 1984, Hewitt founded Federal Sources Inc. (FSI) as a market research and consulting firm focused on IT in the federal government. Prior to FSI, Hewitt held senior executive positions with Kentron, Computer Sciences Corp. (CSC), Business World, Inc. and Boeing Computer Services. Hewitt was appointed by Virginia Governor Jim Gilmore to the Commission on Information Technology in 1998.
Don Upson is an independent consultant, and former Virginia Secretary of Technology. Upson has also served as a senior vice president of webMethods Federal, and vice president of Litton PRC. Upson gained national fame in 1998 as the first Secretary of Technology appointed in the United States, a position that has since been replicated in other states. Upson served Governor James Gilmore as Secretary of Technology during Gilmore's four years in office, and continued in that position until March 2002, under newly-elected Governor Mark Warner.

Luminaries in the Public Sector to bring Federal, State & Local, Defense, and Industry experience to new Board
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - May 14, 2003 - Akamai Technologies, Inc. Initial members of Akamai's Public Sector Advisory Board include:- Richard A. Clarke, former Special Advisor to the President for Cyber Security in the current Bush Administration, and a senior security official in the Clinton and George H.W. Bush White Houses;
