Q. Who can attend the Akamai Global Customer Conference?
The event is open to current Akamai customers and partners only.

Q. Is there a special hotel rate?
Akamai has negotiated a discounted rate of $199 (plus applicable state and local taxes) per night for conference attendees at the Renaissance Boston Waterfront Hotel if booked by July 29. Please make your hotel arrangements on the registration form of this web site.

Q. Are attendees permitted to bring guests?
The conference is open to registered attendees only.

Q. What is the registration process?
Registration is now open. To register for the conference and take advantage of pricing discounts, simply complete the online registration and submit payment by July 15, 2008. Standard registration is open until August 10, 2008.

Q. When will I receive my conference pass?
Upon registration you will receive an email confirmation as receipt of registration payment. A conference pass is not necessary.

Q. Is online registration available?
Yes, simply click on http://programs.regweb.com/motivaction/akamaiglobal2008 and select your registration category from the drop down box.

Q. Are attendee substitutions permitted?
Attendee substitutions from within the same company may be made at any time but must be made in writing. Substituting registration status to an individual outside of your company will not be granted. Please send an email to registration@motivaction.com. Substitutions are not confirmed until you receive written approval from Akamai Travel Headquarters.

Q. What is the cancellation policy?
Cancellation of a registration must be made in writing and e-mailed to registration@motivaction.com.

Cancellations e-mailed prior to July 1, 2008 will be refunded in full less a $75 processing fee. Cancellations e-mailed after July 1 and prior to August 1, 2008 will receive a 50% refund. Cancellations on August 1, 2008 or later will receive no refund. Substituting a different person on an existing registration can be done via e-mail to registration@motivaction.com or by calling Akamai Travel Headquarters at 877-294-6824 at any time without penalty.

Q. Can I apply to present a session at the conference?
Session topics and speakers for the first annual Akamai Global Customer Conference have already been selected. If you are interested in presenting at future Akamai customer conferences, please email msutherl@akamai.com with your contact information and proposed topic.

Q. What types of tracks and sessions can I expect?
The event is organized along a series of 25+ sessions across three industry and two technical tracks. Business people interested in industry-specific issues should check out the Media & Entertainment, Commerce, and The Global Enterprise tracks. For technical deep dives into media and dynamic content technologies, make sure to sign up for the Media and Dynamic Content technical tracks.

Q. How long are the sessions?
Workshop sessions last 40-50 minutes for presentations and 10 minutes for questions and answers for a total of 60 minutes.

Q. What is the attire for the conference?
Business casual attire is appropriate. Bring a sweater or sweatshirt in case of cool temperatures in session rooms.

August is one of the warmest months in Boston. Although it can get quite warm in the summer, the hot afternoons frequently are tempered by the eastern sea breezes, as air flows inland from the cooler surfaces of the ocean.
