Stickam testimonial

Stickam was launched in February of 2005 by parent company Advanced Video Communications, a Japanese owned company. With over 1 Million members, Stickam is one of the Internet’s fastest growing broadcasting and social networking Web Sites, and the first to enable Live Video Chat and Live Video Talk on a Flash-based media site.Empowering the next generation of social networking, Stickam provides a free, all-in-one multimedia communication tool that allows users to easily add dynamic, live streaming video, slide shows, music, and video chats to their blogs or Web sites.

"As we grow, we are continuously adding new servers and additional bandwidth to provide a robust service. Unfortunately, this is an expensive proposition. In addition, it's not realistic for us to replicate our servers around the world.Akamai has enabled Stickam to support other major events, so it was an easy decision to engage them to support the KLOS event," says Scott Flacks, Stickam's VP of marketing and operations. Even with its competence in Live Flash, Stickam is only able to support 2,000 simultaneous viewers using its current infrastructure. Utilizing the VP6 codec, the Akamai Global Flash Streaming Network delivered 6.4 Gbps of Live Flash streaming traffic at peak and supported a total of 305,000 viewers and as many as 23,000 simultaneous participants for a one-hour duration. "We couldn't have pulled it off without Akamai. Last year, we were only able to support 25,000 total viewers at 1 Gbps. Without Akamai in place, we would have had to limit the number of participants and likely would have had to eliminate multiple video streams as well," continues Flacks.

"With Akamai…we have the ability to drive huge numbers of viewers and support greater amounts of interactivity. In fact, our relationship with Akamai helps us keep our leadership position in this market and will be instrumental to our strategic growth."
