Akamai NetSession Interface - Technical Info

How does the Akamai NetSession Interface work?
The Akamai NetSession Interface runs as a service in the background, essentially idle until another application makes a networking request via one of the Akamai NetSession Interface APIs (JavaScript or C). Those requests can range from requests to download a file, to providing status on a particular networking request. The client will then perform the action requested and will return necessary information.

Networking features in the Akamai NetSession Interface:
  • Multi-source downloading and swarming
  • Integration into Akamai's Edge Network
  • Comprehensive NAT traversal technology

Each application that uses the Akamai NetSession Interface uses different capabilities offered by the library. Some applications may use only the download management or file download network calls, while others may employ our performance-enhancing protocols for client-side delivery.
