XM Satellite Radio Selects Akamai to be Lead Provider of Internet Streaming Services
Akamai Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: AKAM), the leading global service provider for accelerating content and business processes online, and XM Satellite Radio, the nation's leading provider of satellite radio with more than 3.77 million subscribers, today announced that Akamai is the lead provider of Internet streaming services for XM Radio Online, available at http://listen.xmradio.com.
XM Radio Online, which complements the XM Satellite Radio service, offers more than 70 channels of commercial-free music and premier talk, comedy, and children's programming that can be accessed through a user's personal computer. This month, XM began offering XM Radio Online to all XM subscribers as part of its basic subscription plan.
