Senior Vice President & General Manager, Security and Performance Business Units

In October 2018, Adams was named Senior Vice President and General Manager of Akamai’s Security and Performance Business Units, leading the teams responsible for the technology and solutions that enable Akamai customers to deliver exceptional, reliable, and secure experiences for their web and mobile applications, across all devices and networks, everywhere.

Previously, he served as Vice President, Web Performance Product Management, with global responsibility for the strategy and management of Akamai’s Web Experience solutions portfolio, which enables Akamai customers to deliver innovative, instant web experiences on any device, anywhere. He has also been instrumental in leading integrations of several acquisitions for Akamai.

Adams joined Akamai in 1999. In his two decades with the company, he has held leadership roles in sales, services and support, technical services delivery and country management.

He has championed new programs and offerings that enable customers to meet their business objectives successfully and, at the same time, contribute to Akamai’s growth and profitability.

Under his leadership, Akamai adopted the use of the NetPromoter Score to monitor and increase customer satisfaction. He launched Akamai University for Customers, which has certified thousands of customers on Akamai solutions, and launched Akamai’s Customer Experience program.

As a country manager, he established and expanded Akamai’s presence in two strategic markets: opening Akamai’s sales office in Australia and center in Costa Rica.

Adams earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Management Information Systems from Utah State University and has taken executive education at the Sloan School of Management at MIT.
