eMedia Network is committed to providing its customers and partners with digital video and broadcast delivery services across multiple platforms at the highest possible quality. As a company with roots in traditional broadcasting, eMedia unveiled iON in 2015. The iON worldwide Over-the- Top (OTT)/IPTV platform specializes in digital video broadcasting, distribution and monetization of multicultural television, and radio content. Specifically, iON works with broadcasters and content providers to deliver top-quality television and radio programming to viewers and listeners on three continents: Europe, North America, and Oceania (Australia and New Zealand).
After ten years in the broadcast business, eMedia chose to embrace OTT/IPTV so its customers could access the high-quality video programming, along with value-added services, via the Internet. In fact, the company is an IPTV pioneer, having launched its first online video offering seven years ago. As it migrated to IPTV, eMedia wanted to maintain the same streaming reliability and video quality it had achieved via satellite and cable. However, as it looked to expand its international presence and ensure optimal performance, eMedia was limited by its main Points of Presence in Zagreb, Croatia; Sydney, Australia; and California, U.S.A. At one point, the company considered working with multiple network operators in major regions to improve online video streaming performance but would have found itself burdened by significant vendor management. “We needed a cost-effective, reliable, and simple way to deliver our OTT/IPTV content around the world,” explains the company’s Executive Chairman, Mark Lobwein.
eMedia Network needed to meet three key requirements to support its objectives for OTT delivery:
Over the years, eMedia has trialed just about every CDN provider. According to Lobwein, “While other vendors can improve performance in certain geographic areas, only Akamai could satisfy our requirements internationally.” By working with just Akamai, eMedia simplifies media workflow and management while covering its current and future needs. “Akamai is always one step ahead of marketplace trends, such as delivering content to handheld devices and working with emerging technologies, so it’s a smart partnership as we look to further innovate,” continues Lobwein.
eMedia Network has become a leader in the broadcasting industry. Since its inception, we’ve been committed to giving customers and business partners superior value in our service from full-time video, international broadcasting, and telecommunications to multimedia platforms and value-added application services.
