Australia's Online Publishing Giant, News Interactive, Leverages Akamai to Scale for Growing Readership

Akamai Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: AKAM), the leading global service provider for accelerating content and business processes online, today announced that News Interactive, one of Australia's largest online publishers, has experienced steady return on investment directly related to the implementation of Akamai solutions more than a year ago.

News Interactive, which operates many of Australia's leading news and information websites such as,,, and, has seen website availability increase to 99.9 percent, and load on its servers reduced by close to 90 percent since implementing the Akamai EdgeSuite and Akamai Streaming solutions. With Akamai, News Interactive has been able to handle with ease sudden major spikes in online traffic due to large news events such as the Corby verdict, London bombings, Bali bombings, and the election.

During the recent Corby trial, News Interactive traffic throughput increased four times, with video streaming peaking at more than ten times its average.
