Akamai to Index the Impact on Web Usage for Leading Brands Advertising During Pro Football's Biggest Event
Akamai Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: AKAM), the leading global service provider for accelerating content and business processes online, today released the Akamai Net Usage Index for Advertising (www.akamai.com/netusageindex). Akamai is delivering content and optimizing the corresponding online marketing campaigns for more than half of this year's nationally televised advertisers during pro football's most popular event on February 5, 2006. The index will provide a unique view into the aggregate Web usage patterns before, during and after the game for Akamai's customers that are integrating their broadcast advertising campaigns with an online component.
Considered one of the largest advertising and marketing events of the year, the National Football League's Super Bowl attracts businesses to unveil innovative brand campaigns that often leverage the Internet. The Akamai Net Usage Index for Advertising will provide an aggregate view of total visitors per minute to a collection of more than 20 advertisers' sites delivered by Akamai, including the highly anticipated Dove 'Campaign for Real Beauty' site, www.campaignforrealbeauty.com.

With the data available through Akamai's Net Usage Index, businesses will have real-time information about the success of their advertisements, allowing them to understand the value of their investment. Akamai will not release web usage data on any one customer, but will provide an aggregate view into elevated web traffic patterns. The Akamai Net Usage Index for Advertising will exist for two weeks after the Super Bowl to show resulting trends.
