Akamai is expanding its EMEA service centre, leveraging the highly qualified and talented employee base in the region and helping to support the growth of the local economy
Akamai Technologies, International AG, – the leading cloud platform for helping enterprises provide secure, high-performing user experiences on any device, anywhere, announced today that it plans to double the size of its Krakow workforce by the end of the year, raising the profile of the location as the main technology business centre in Poland. Recruitment will focus on staff covering a range of areas from support to engineering, sales, finance, and legal and marketing.
Following the opening of operations in Poland in Fall 2011, Akamai now plans to expand its footprint in the country and make the Krakow office the largest hub of its European operations. After just a couple of quarters, Akamai has now moved into a new office building with more space for the current employees and enough room for future growth within this year.
Martin Haering, Vice President Marketing & Alliances at Akamai EMEA, who heads-up the company’s Krakow centre, said; "We are very excited about expanding our footprint in Poland. The employees and people we work with in Krakow are among the most talented and motivated I have ever met. We look forward to realising the further potential of this great location for Akamai."
In addition to highly qualified graduates from local universities such as AGH, and the Jagiellonian University of Krakow, Akamai is also encouraging Polish ex-pats to return to the country to work in its Krakow office.
Renata Ceglowska is an employee of Akamai in Krakow who until recently lived in Ireland, but returned to Poland to work for the company. The new Telebusiness Manager, EMEA said: "Many Polish people feel that they need to work elsewhere in the EU, or globally, to get the international experience they need. The Akamai service centre with its multinational environment, embedded in a worldwide operation is now offering such an experience in country, which is a great development for us."
