The Human Rights Campaign Foundation Names Akamai a Best Place to Work for LGBTQ Equality

Akamai Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: AKAM), the global leader in Content Delivery Network (CDN) services today announced a perfect score on the 2017 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), a national benchmarking survey and report on corporate policies and practices related to LGBTQ workplace equality, administered by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation. Akamai joins the ranks of 517 major U.S. businesses which also earned top marks this year.

In addition to pledging its support for Freedom Massachusetts to ensure fair and equal treatment for transgender people under state law, Akamai has implemented several programs to foster inclusion and improve workplace diversity. In particular, Akamai’s out@akamai Employee Resource Group provides support for those who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender to meet, share experiences, work to raise awareness, improve engagement, and support development for all employees.

The 2017 CEI rated 1,043 businesses in the report, which evaluates LGBTQ-related policies and practices including non-discrimination workplace protections, domestic partner benefits, transgender-inclusive health care benefits, competency programs, and public engagement with the LGBTQ community. Akamai’s efforts in satisfying all of the CEI’s criteria results in a 100 percent ranking and the designation as a Best Place to Work for LGBTQ Equality.
