Akamai Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: AKAM), the global leader in content delivery network (CDN) services, today announced the agenda for Akamai Edge 2016, its ninth annual customer conference, taking place October 17-21, 2016 at the Hilton San Francisco Union Square.
Akamai Edge brings together business leaders and industry influencers who will share best practices for shaping the future of the Internet. The week-long conference for prospects and customers will explore the trends and innovation that is having a profound impact on over-the-top (OTT) video, mobile performance, cloud technologies, and Web and enterprise security.
With the theme of “Bringing the Future into Focus,” Akamai Edge will feature in-depth industry forums, hands-on technical training labs, and partner-based exhibits. Participating conference speakers come from many of the world’s top brands including 5miles, CIBC, Esurance, Forrester Research, GE, Intuit, Jana, Linen Chest, Market America/SHOP.com, NDTV, Nordstrom, Panera Bread, Performance Bicycle, Ralph Lauren Corporation, Telegraph Media Group, The Capital Group, The Coca-Cola Company, The Hartford Insurance Group, Ticketmaster, and ZALORA Group, among others.
In addition, attendees will hear from Akamai CEO and Co-Founder Dr. Tom Leighton on the technologies behind redefining the cloud and creating a more secure Internet (see Dr. Leighton’s 2015 Edge keynote).
Attendees will have the chance to connect and gain insight into the Akamai partner ecosystem through demonstrations by more than 25 technical and strategic partners whose solutions integrate with the Akamai Intelligent Platform. Participating sponsors include IBM, AT&T and Jive Software, as well as Arturai, Brightcove, Comcast Technology Solutions, and G&L, among others.
“Akamai Edge explores the topics of a world that is connected like never before,” said Monique Bonner, Chief Marketing Officer at Akamai. “This year’s event will focus on the extraordinary innovation taking place as businesses leverage cloud, mobile, media and big data strategies, all while addressing the security challenges from an ever-changing threat landscape.”
New to the Conference program this year is the Developer Zone, inspired by and designed for the Akamai developer community. Attendees will receive hands-on experience with APIs, while collaborating and problem-solving with Akamai developer experts. The on-site Security (SOCC), Broadcast (BOCC), and Network Operations Control Centers (NOCC) will allow customers and partners to experience the industry’s most extensive view of the real-time condition of the Internet.
As the largest annual gathering of Akamai customers and partners, the conference is scheduled to address topics including:
- The future of digital video
- Live linear workflow for OTT
- Using data to improve your security posture
