Vice President, Sales, North America
Randy Wood is Vice President, North American Sales at Akamai. He is responsible for customer advocacy and strategic partnership, and leading Akamai’s sales and channel business within the North American market. This market includes some of the best known brands in commerce, travel and hospitality, financial services, broadcast, video distribution, online gaming, publishing, and technology.
Previously, Wood was responsible for Akamai’s Web Performance and Security business in North America, where he helped to lead strategic partnerships with some of Akamai’s largest and most strategic public sector and commercial customers.
Prior to joining Akamai in 2018, Wood held sales leadership positions at both Red Hat and F5 Networks, where he was Vice President of Federal Sales for four years. He served in a variety of technical and direct sales leadership positions throughout his prior 25 year career in the IT industry. He spent nine years at Cisco Systems from 1996-2005, working in engineering, leadership and direct sales roles. In 2005, he left Cisco and spent two years at Symantec, as Director of Sales for the Public Sector team serving the U.S. Department of Defense and intelligence agencies. Prior to his return to Cisco in early 2010, he was VP of Sales for the U.S. Public Sector at Informatica. He came to Informatica by way of acquisition of Agent Logic, an In-Q-Tel portfolio company, where he spent nearly three years as VP of Sales for the US enterprise market, leading the company’s explosive growth and leadership position in the emerging complex event processing market.
Wood earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from the Virginia Military Institute, and a Master’s of Science in Management Information Systems/Information Technology from the George Washington University. A former officer in the United States Marine Corps, he is a veteran of Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm.
