We’re excited to call Tokyo home to Akamai cloud computing… again! Our Tokyo Expansion core compute region is now available for all Akamai cloud computing customers, greatly expanding capacity, features, and scalability for all customers in the region. As we continue to expand our cloud products, ensuring we have capacity for customer growth continues to be a priority along with making newer, high-performance hardware and networking readily available to existing customers.

For both Akamai customers and partners, Japan continues to be a focal point for growth and new opportunities. Cybersecurity, AI, and large investments in green tech and renewable energy are just a few of the industries and use cases driving demand for highly performant cloud computing options. In addition to our available core compute region in Osaka launched in late 2023, we have expanded capacity in our legacy Tokyo compute region to support long-term growth in both of Japan’s major metros for technology companies and startups.

Tokyo Expansion (jp-tyo-3) features new compute and networking hardware, Premium CPU instance availability, and is fully equipped with free essential tools including private networking with VPC, customizable network security with Cloud Firewall, and cloud-init metadata support. Log in, create an account, or get in touch with our cloud computing consultants to deploy in Tokyo Expansion or 25+ other core regions across the world.
